DescriptionTo be buried, if he died in England in the parish church of Battell, co. Sussex, within the tomb where his late wife lay buried, certain masses to be done for him ... according to the ancient and laudable custom of the Church of England
Bequest to the said church if his body be buried there £3. 6s. 8d
His executors to dispose in and about his burying and funeral £100 and not above. At his burial £20 to be distributed by the executors to the poor people to the intent that they should pray for his soul
To wife Lady Elizabeth Browne, her apparel and jewels and in money 200 marks and in plate £100 worth and household stuff to the value of 200 marks besides `two fayre testoures' Also her horses and those of her women
To each of younger sons, William, Henry, Francis, Thomas, George, and Henry, an annuity of 40 marks for life
To daughter Mary Browne, 400 marks sterling or the value thereof in plate
To daughter Mabel, 900 marks, 600 marks therof being the bequest of her uncle the Earl of Southampton
Daughter (?Lucy) to have the preferment in marriage of my Lord Dacre the king's ward whom I purchased of Hen. VIII, and if he should die before marriage, then she to have the preferment in marriage of his brother Gregory Fynes; if both should die before marriage had betwixt the said daughter Lucy and one of them, she to have towards advancement in marriage otherwise, 800 marks
To son William `two indifferent good fetherbeds with two indifferent payre testors' and the furniture thereof
To daughter-in-law Anne Browne his (? William's) wife £20 worth of plate
To base son Charles an annuity of £10 for life. To base daughter Anne, £100
To every of his household servants one year's wages over and above what might be due And to every gentleman of his household servants, a horse, gelding or nagge, so far as the number of them would extend

To son Sir Anthony Browne, testator's collar of the Order of the Garter, with all householf stuff, plate, money etc., debts cattele, leases, wardships and all other things appertaining to `my body', the furnishing of any of testator's houses of Battell, Cowdrye or Byflet not already bequeathed, at 21 years
Executors to have the rule, order and receipt of all the testator's manors, lordships, lands etc. called, the manor of Beigham, the manor of Preston Poynings, the manor of Sadlescombe, the manor of Poynings, the manor of Perching, the farm or site of the manor of Chinting Poynings, the farm or site of the manor of Levyshote, the manor of Calceto, a tenement in Twyneham, called Coulevyles, the manor of Westbrooke, the farm or site of the manor of Asshecombe, the fearme or site of the manor of Horington in Walderne and the late College of Hastings, all in the counties of Sussex, Essex or kent, To be had to the executors until the Will be fully accomplished. To retain so much of the profits as should be required to pay annuities and the residue to be delivered to son and heir at his full age from time to time as the profits should grow
Wife to have as her jointure in lieu of dower the manors of Rypley and Send, the manor or grange called Ryde fearme, thhe fearme of Potnoll Park, the manor of Shalford Clifford, the house and park of Byflet, the fearme of lands in Byflet, the site and demesne of Chertsey and certain lands parcel of the manor of Pirforde, co. Surrey, over and beside the manor of Roounewell Hall, co. Essex, the manor of Woodforde, co. Essex and the site and demeanes of the late monastery of Barnewell, co. Cambridge, which Hen. VIII gave to testator's wife and him
The king to have for the wardship of testator's son and heir for the 3rd. part of lands to the king belonging by reason of the minority of the heir, the manor of Battell, lands etc. in Hailesham, Wadeherst, Echingham, Tysehurst, Wartling, Winchelsey, Bekeley, Bexhill, and Bodyham, co. Sussex; also the manor of Pingden, co. Sussex, the manor of Breade, the manor of Bernhorne, the manor of Linchmere als Shelbreade, and the manor of Selham
Settlement of all manors on son Sir Anthony Browne in tail male, with remainders over to other sons
