Full description | Goring Road from Elm Grove, Goring-by-Sea, Worthing. Looking west with shopping parade on the right, houses and more shops on the left. In background left, partly obscured by a Belisha beacon, is a sign reading 'Shops with living accommodation over - to be erected'. Men and women are walking on the pavement, there is a cyclist in the road, and lamp posts along the side of the road. The kerbstones in foreground are painted black and white to help motorists and cyclists in the blackout. Photograph taken in the later stages of the Second World War.
